Inter Milan are serious about trying to sign forward Federico Chiesa from Juventus for a slashed-price fee this summer.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that the Nerazzurri could aim for a fee of less than €15 million.

The links between Inter and Chiesa just aren’t going away.

The Nerazzurri’s interest in signing the Italian international seems to largely be opportunistic.

It is clearer than ever that Chiesa is not part of Juventus’s project.

The Bianconeri are almost desperate to offload the 26-year-old former Fiorentina forward, as they want to make way for other signings to build a new attack for coach Thiago Motta.

Therefore, there would certainly be no chance of a new contract for Chiesa at Juventus.

The Italian’s contract with the Old Lady runs until the end of next June.

Inter Milan Serious About Signing Federico Chiesa From Juventus This Summer

Chiesa’s contract situation has raised the prospect of his availability on a free transfer next summer.

And if Chiesa were to leave Juventus out of contract in a year’s time, Inter would certainly be among his suitors.

Inter are no strangers to big name free transfer signings.

All of Hakan Calhanoglu, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Andre Onana, and Marcus Thuram have arrived at the Nerazzurri via that route. This summer alone, Mehdi Taremi and Piotr ZIelinski followed.

Therefore, it is natural that Inter are keeping an eye on Chiesa for next summer.

But the Nerazzurri may not even wait that long, reports the Corriere della Sera.

It is at the point where even this summer, the investment needed to sign Chiesa may not be all that much.

Juventus don’t have much in the way of bargaining position considering their open desire to offload Chiesa and the 26-year-old’s contract situation.

The Bianconeri’s hope would be to bring in a fee of around 15 million for the out-of-favour forward.

But Inter could offer even less – and hope that as time ticks away in the transfer window, Juventus accept.
