Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi is planning to go with the same Inter Milan team as last season for the start of the Serie A campaign.

Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, report that the Nerazzurri coach’s focus will be continuity from last season’s imperious form.

The start of the Serie A season is now less than two weeks away.

Inter kick off their league title defense with an away match against Genoa. Clashes with Lecce and Atalanta follow.

And Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi has been thinking about how he will set up his team once they are back in action.

The 48-year-old has had the preseason period to observe his players in training, and has already had four preseason friendlies in which to test out his team.

Simone Inzaghi To Prioritize Continuity In Inter Serie A Start

According to the Gazzetta, Inzaghi’s thinking centres around keeping the team from last season on the pitch.

That would certainly reflect the way Inter have gone about the summer transfer window.

The Nerazzurri have made a few big signings, but it has been clear that their real priority has been avoiding the sales of any of the regular starters from last campaign.

Therefore, the Gazzetta anticipate, Inzaghi is planning to stick with the team that is tried-and-tested from last season.

The likes of regular starters Benjamin Pavard and Marcus Thuram have returned to training. Captain Lautaro Martinez will soon follow.

Inzaghi is hoping that over the next couple weeks players such as that return to peak fitness.

The one new signing who did look like he would start against Genoa was Mehdi Taremi.

The Iranian international striker had been in blazing form in preseason. He did look like he was an ideal candidate to start next season with a bang.

But the 32-year-old is unlikely to return to fitness after picking up a muscle injury. So he will not start against Genoa.
