Inter Milan will announce the contract extension of captain Lautaro Martinez sometime this week.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

At the moment, Martinez is back in Inter preseason training.

The 26-year-old certainly had an eventful summer. He was the top scorer at the Copa America as Argentina won the tournament for the second edition in a row, scoring in the final.

Given that Argentina were in the final of the Copa, Martinez has been the last player to return to training for Inter.

The Argentine received an extended vacation like all squad members who’d been in action at the Copa America or the Euros.

But Martinez has returned a couple days later than he’d expected to.

Yesterday, the 26-year-old was already back in Inter training.

Martinez had made the decision to cut his holidays short by a couple days. This was so that he could be more ready for the start of the season after a muscle injury to Mehdi Taremi.

Inter Milan To Announce Lautaro Martinez Extension This Week

Obviously Martinez’s focus is on training and getting up to speed for the new season. There is still more than a week before Inter begin their Serie A campaign against Genoa.

But then there is also the matter of Martinez’s contract extension.

Inter have had an agreement in hand with their captain for weeks now.

Martinez has reportedly already signed a new deal. This takes him from the end of June 2026 all the way to the end of June 2029 at the Nerazzurri.

Inter’s captain will earn 9 million net per season plus add-ons on his new deal.

As of yet, Inter have not officially announced the new contract for Martinez.

But according to the Gazzetta, the Nerazzurri will do so today.
