Inter Milan are reportedly still in the hunt for Mario Hermoso who’s now a free agent after leaving Atletico Madrid.

The Spain international was a stalwart in Diego Simeone’s starting lineup, but he decided to pursue a new career adventure.

But with only three weeks separating us from deadline day, the 29-year-old has yet to find himself a new home.

News reports linked the defender with several clubs, especially Napoli and Inter.

Nevertheless, the Partenopei have already acquired alternative profiles like Alessandro Buongiorno, while the Nerazzurri are adopting a new transfer strategy.

That’s because the club’s new owners Oaktree Capital have instructed the management to sign young profiles whose values can increase over time.

Nevertheless, Italian journalist Orazio Accomando insists that Hermoso remains a candidate to join the Italian champions.

Earlier today, the DAZN reporter claimed that the player’s agents are in Milano and will hold talks with both Inter and AC Milan.

Accomando has now provided a new update on his X account. He reveals that the meeting between Inter and the player’s entourage has indeed ensued on Friday.

Inter Milan Still Pushing To Land Mario Hermoso

The journalist claims the Nerazzurri are still trying to make progress on this front. He believes the Beneamata remain in the fray for the Spanish defender.

Accomando also reveals that another meeting between the two parties will take place in the coming days.

Hermoso is a left-footed defender, so he supposedly fits the profile that the club has been seeking over the past few weeks.

Simone Inzaghi’s squad is missing a player who can fill in for Alessandro Bastoni. That’s because Carlos Augusto will return to the left wingback role due to Tajon Buchanan’s injury.

But while Inter president Beppe Marotta is notorious for snatching free agents, it remains to be seen if Oaktree would greenlight the operation.
