Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi is happy with his team’s performance in their 1-1 friendly draw against Chelsea today.

Speaking after the match, via FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri coach said that his team “always caused problems” for the home side. He also predicted a difficult match against Genoa next weekend.

Inter have now played their final friendly match of the preseason period.

The Nerazzurri took on Premier League giants Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Striker Marcus Thuram gave Inter the lead during the first half. However, the Nerazzurri could not quite hold onto it.

Midfielder Lesley Ugwochuku scored in the ninetieth minute to see the match end 1-1.

Ultimately, the result of the friendly is relatively unimportant. Inter used the match as preparation to gain match sharpness ahead of the start of the season. And so did Chelsea.

The Nerazzurri begin their Serie A title defense in less than a week. They travel to Liguria to face Genoa next Saturday.

Meanwhile, Chelsea will face reigning Premier League champions Manchester City in their own league opener.

Inter Coach Simone Inzaghi: “We Always Caused Chelsea Problems”

Inter coach Inzaghi gave his thoughts on the performance against Chelsea. “I wasn’t worried after what happened in Monza,” he said, referring to a friendly defeat against Al-Ittihad.”

“It’s normal to have some problems with performance during preseason,” he went on.

Inzaghi declared that “Today we certainly had a good match.”

“Our legs were lighter compared to a few days ago. That allowed us to play more together, maintaining the right distance between the lines and balance as a team.”

“We suffered when we needed to,” Inzaghi said.

“But I liked that we were always ready to get forward and cause problems for Chelsea,” the coach added.

“From now on all our energy is aimed towards preparing for Saturday’s league opener against Genoa,” Inzaghi made clear.

“All these friendlies have been stages leading towards Saturday.”

Inzaghi anticipated that “A very difficult match awaits us.”

“Alberto Gilardino’s team are in good form, and they have a lot of enthusiasm to their whole atmosphere,” he said of Genoa.
