Inter Milan could offer striker Marko Arnautovic to Genoa as part of a deal for forward Albert Gudmundsson.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInter1908. They report that the Grifone would like a player as part of a deal for Gudmundsson, and that Arnautovic would be a possible counterpart.

It’s still uncertain whether or not Icelandic international Gudmundsson will stay at Genoa or leave in the remaining three weeks of the summer transfer window.

The 26-year-old is a target for a number of clubs in Serie A.

Inter have been the subject of perhaps the strongest links. But Juventus have also been eyeing up a move for Gudmundsson.

And in the last week or so, Fiorentina have seemed to be on the verge of a deal for Gudmundsson.

The Tuscans have reportedly identified the Genoa forward as a replacement for Nico Gonzalez, who is close to joining Juventus.

In spite of that fact, however, Gudmundsson remains a Genoa player. The Ligurians have not agreed a deal with any of the clubs interested in the former AZ Alkmaar forward.

Inter Could Offer Marko Arnautovic + Cash For Albert Gudmundsson

According to Sky, Genoa’s preference if they are to sell Gudmundsson this summer would be to also get a player in return as part of the deal, rather than just a cash fee.

The Grifone have already made one unexpected sale of a key player from their attack last season. Mateo Retegui left to join Atalanta.

Therefore, Genoa are very much seeking to restock their attack. Particularly if Gudmundsson leaves.

And then it could be a matter of which players any clubs interested in Gudmundsson can offer Genoa.

In Inter’s case, Sky note, there could be Arnautovic.

There has been a persistent sense of uncertainty around whether the Austrian will stay this summer.

And Arnautovic would make for a like-for-like replacement for Retegui as a centre-forward.

Therefore, Sky report, the Austrian could be part of a deal for Gudmundsson.
