The CEO of Genoa does not expect Inter Milan and Fiorentina target Albert Gudmundsson to leave before a replacement is brought in.

The Grifone’s CEO Albert Blazquez spoke to Genoa-based newspaper Il Secolo XIX, via FCInter1908. He gave a clear ultimatum regarding the Icelandic international.

It’s still uncertain whether or not Icelandic international Gudmundsson will stay at Genoa or leave in the remaining three weeks of the summer transfer window.

The 26-year-old is a target for a number of clubs in Serie A.

Inter have been the subject of perhaps the strongest links. But Juventus have also been eyeing up a move for Gudmundsson.

And in the last week or so, Fiorentina have seemed to be on the verge of a deal for Gudmundsson.

The Tuscans have reportedly identified the Genoa forward as a replacement for Nico Gonzalez, who has looked to be close to joining Juventus.

In spite of that fact, however, Gudmundsson remains a Genoa player. The Ligurians have not agreed a deal with any of the clubs interested in the former AZ Alkmaar forward.

Genoa CEO Gives Ultimatum On Inter & Fiorentina Target Albert Gudmundsson

At the moment, the situation looks to be a bit deadlocked.

Genoa have just sold striker Mateo Retegui to Atalanta. That is not necessarily a transfer that they’ll have expected.

And in the meantime, Fiorentina have been counting on the signing of Gudmundsson in order to make up for the loss of Gonzalez.

Therefore, the situation currently looks to be a lot of dominoes in which none have fallen yet.

And for their part, Genoa could dig in their heels on their stance.

The club’s CEO Blazquez seemed to indicate as much. He commented that “Until we find a player who can keep the team competitive, Albert will stay here.”

Recent reports have even suggested that a swap deal between Gudmundsson and Inter striker Marko Arnautovic could be on the cards.
