The CEO of Genoa says that there have been “no formal offers” from Inter Milan for forward Albert Gudmundsson to date.

Speaking in today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, the Grifone executive also said that he does not expect Gudmundsson to play against Inter on Saturday.

Gudmundsson has been at the centre of increasing transfer speculation in the last few days.

The former AZ Alkmaar forward has looked like a player who could leave Genoa all summer. There is certainly no shortage of transfer interest in him.

However, as of yet, Gudmundsson has remained at Genoa.

But over the last week or so, Fiorentina have pursued Gudmundsson with greater and greater urgency.

La Viola have made offers for the Icelandic international. This is something Genoa’s CEO does not deny, although he also emphasizes that his club have rejected them.

But on the other hand, Fiorentina are not the only club targeting Gudmundsson.

Inter in particular have been strongly linked with the 26-year-old for months.

Genoa CEO: “No Offers From Inter Milan” For Albert Gudmundsson

Over the last couple days there have been several reports that Inter could try to make a last-ditch move for Gudmundsson.

The Nerazzurri could aim to persuade Genoa on a deal for the Icelander by including striker Marko Arnautovic in an offer.

Genoa’s CEO Blazquez summarized the situation. “There have been offers for Albert,” he said. “But none have met our demands.”

“I understand why he is pushing to leave,” the Grifone CEO continued. “This is the best moment of form in his career.”

“But for us the most important thing is Genoa.”

Blazquez made clear that “Until we have a replacement in hand that we can be satisfied with, who can keep us at the same level as last season or higher, we can’t let Albert leave.”

“To date, he will not leave the club,” he said.

Blazquez said that “We’ve never received a formal offer from Inter for him.”

“He’s a player who’s attracted interest from several teams. So far, Fiorentina have made an offer, but we didn’t consider it acceptable.”

The Genoa CEO clarified that “Inter are interested. But to date they haven’t sent any offers for him.”

Meanwhile, Genoa and Inter face off in the first match of the Serie A season on Saturday. Blazquez stated that “Albert has a slight muscle problem” for that match.

“I don’t think he’ll be available against Inter,” the CEO clarified. “But he should be back soon after.”
