Inter Milan could move to sign defender Johan Vazquez from Genoa if striker Marko Arnautovic joins the Grifone.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.

The last couple days have seen transfer links emerge between Inter striker Arnautovic and Genoa.

The Grifone are looking for attacking reinforcements. They have already sold Mateo Retegui, and Albert Gudmundsson looks soon to follow.

Therefore, the Ligurian club are aiming to replace these big name departures.

And reportedly, Genoa coach Alberto Gilardino is a big fan of Inter striker Arnautovic.

And the Nerazzurri would certainly be open to discussing a possible deal for the Austrian.

However, Inter’s priority wouldn’t necessarily be to bring in a cash fee for Arnautovic.

Rather, the Nerazzurri would see the 35-year-old as a makeweight for a Genoa player.

Inter Could Sign Johan Vazquez From Genoa As Part Of Arnautovic Deal

Reports have indicated that Inter’s idea would be to allow Arnautovic to join Genoa as part of a deal for Gudmundsson.

That would certainly be a convenient piece of business for the Nerazzurri.

Gudmundsson is a long-term Inter target. And by sending Arnautovic to Genoa, they would be making space in their squad for the Icelandic international.

But on the other hand, Fiorentina are also pushing to sign Gudmundsson.

A deal for the 26-year-old would be very tough for Inter in any event.

However, Tuttosport note, Gudmundsson is not the only Genoa player Inter have been eyeing up.

The Nerazzurri’s priority for the remaining weeks of the transfer window is to sign a defender who can back up Alessandro Bastoni.

And 25-year-old Mexican international Johan Vazquez would be just such a player.

Vazquez has proven that he can play on the left side of a back three in Serie A, with both Genoa and Cremonese.

Therefore, Tuttosport report, Inter could try and do a swap deal involving Vazquez and Arnautovic.
