Inter Milan reportedly have company in the race for Mikayil Faye, as Besiktas have reportedly launched an offer for the Barcelona youngster.

The Nerazzurri have been exploring their options on the market as they look to sign a young left-footed defender.

While Alessandro Bastoni remains the ultimate first choice for the left centre-back role, the Italian doesn’t have a clear backup. After all, Carlos Augusto will be acting as Federico Dimarco’s understudy while Tajon Buchanan recovers from injury.

Hence, news reports have been linking the Italian champions with a host of potential candidates for the role.

Over the last few days, Faye surfaced as a new profile. The 20-year-old started his career in his native country of Senegal.

In February 2023, he made the move to Europe through the gates of Croatian side NK Kustosija.

In the following summer, he signed for Barcelona, and featured for their development team Barca Atletic last season.

The youngster has now earned a promotion to the first team, but his future at the club remains uncertain, especially amidst the growing interest in his services.

According To Catalan newspaper Sport (via FcInterNews), Besiktas are also hoping to lure the young defender.

Besiktas Launch Offer For Barcelona Defender & Inter Milan Target Mikayil Faye

The Turkish giants have reportedly presented Barcelona with an offer of 10 million euros for the Senegal international.

On the other hand, the source notes that Inter’s interest in Faye has waned in recent hours.

As reported this morning, the Nerazzurri have identified 21-year-old Argentine defender Tomas Palacios as their main candidate for the role.

The same source claimed Inter only consider Faye as an alternative option for Palacios.

The Senegalese mainly plays as a central defender but can also cover at left-back when required. His contract with the Catalan giants is valid until June 2027.
