Former Fiorentina and Leyton Orient boss Alberto Cavasin feels Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi deserves bigger recognition.

The 48-year-old led the Nerazzurri towards the Serie A title last season, thus unlocking the club’s second star.

The Piacenza native has also been praised for his team’s progressive style of play and the way he torched all opposition on his path to the finish line.

In their recent coaching rankings, ESPN placed Inzaghi ninth on the global list.

Nevertheless, Cavasin believes the former Lazio coach’s exploits from last season warrant a place in the Top Five.

“Inzaghi could have been in the Top Five based on his achievements,” said the 68-year-old in his interview with TMW Radio via FcInter1908.

“He beat all the other clubs last season, and he did so by a landslide.

Alberto Cavasin Consider Inter Milan Coach Simone Inzaghi Among Best Five In The World

Cavasin also insists that Inter remain the favorites to retain their Serie A title, even though AC Milan have improved.

“Inter remain the strongest, they have settled in slowly. They have an advantage, but Milan are also brilliant.

“The Rossoneri have signed an important striker [Morata] and are looking for someone in midfield.

“They came in second last season. So in order to improve, they should aim for the top spot, but as I said, Inter are further ahead.”

Cavasin also discussed Inter’s other potential Scudetto rivals.

“Juventus are a work in progress, so they need time. Napoli have a good squad, so they could have a solid campaign.

“For the centre-forward, however, I would have looked for a younger profile, even if Lukaku would be an important addition.

“Finally, Roma are doing well and I think it is logical to see Dybala leave. In my opinion, the club has the will to go far.”

The new Serie A campaign kicks off this weekend with Genoa hosting Inter on Saturday at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium.
