Fiorentina are reportedly increasingly optimistic about their chances of landing Albert Gudmundsson, even though Inter Milan have recently revived their interest in the Genoa star.

The 27-year-old is coming off a sensational Serie A campaign which earned him a host of suitors between Italy and abroad.

At the start of the summer, many considered the Nerazzurri the favorites to prevail in the race for the attacker’s services.

However, the Italian champions have been struggling to trim their attacking department, leaving no room for a new arrival.

Therefore, Fiorentina have recently overtaken Inter. They have been close to sealing the deal.

The main issue that has been derailing the operation is Genoa’s meager attacking department.

The Grifone suddenly sold Mateo Retegui to Atalanta following Gianluca Scamacca’s ACL injury. Thus, the Ligurians have tightened their grip on Gudmundsson, at least until the arrival of a replacement.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews, Genoa have made an offer for Wolverhampton’s Fabio Silva.

The source believes the English club could well accept the Rossoblu’s bid.

The arrival of the Portuguese striker would thus unlock Gudmundsson’s departure. This would allow Fiorentina to finally sign their man.

Fiorentina Confident About Securing Albert Gudmundsson Despite Revived Inter Milan Interest

This deal would cost the Tuscans around 25 million euros between loan fees and the purchase clause. The Viola would sign the Iceland international on a five-year deal that includes a net salary of 2.2 million euros per year.

The pink newspaper also notes that Inter have recently rekindled their interest in Gudmundsson.

Nevertheless, Fiorentina remain confident in their ability to reach the finish line first.

Gudmundsson’s arrival in Florence could also trigger Nico Gonzalez’s move to Juventus. This potential transfer has also been in the making for several weeks.
