Inter Milan striker Marko Arnautovic doesn’t fancy a move to Genoa, but would rather stay put at Appiano Gentile.

The Austrian joined Simone Inzaghi’s ranks last summer, completing a move from Bologna.

The 35-year-old couldn’t carve himself a starting role in the team, but instead served as a backup for Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram.

And with Mehdi Taremi completing a free transfer from Porto, Arnautovic has further fallen down the pecking order.

Some might even consider the former West Ham striker as surplus to requirements at Inter, especially if a new attacker were to arrive.

There have been reports in the Italian press suggesting Inter could be looking to hit two birds with one stone by offering Arnautovic as an exchange pawn in a swap deal that brings Albert Gudmundsson to San Siro.

The Grifone also need a new bomber after selling Mateo Retegui to Atalana.

But according to Il Secolo XIX via FcInterNews, the Austria international has rejected the chance to join Alberto Gilardino’s team.

Arnautovic has often reiterated his desire to stay at Inter and fight for his place in the team.

Inter Milan Striker Marko Arnautovic Snubs Genoa Move

The veteran attacker’s contract with the Italian champions is valid until the end of the season

For their part, Genoa have already found themselves a younger alternative in the shape of Fabio Silva.

The Ligurians have already acquired the player’s approval and are now working on an agreement with Wolverhampton.

Silva’s arrival at Genoa could prove be a significant blow for Inter on several levels.

This transfer wouldn’t only close the door on Arnautovic’s move to the Port City, but could also unblock the negotiations between Genoa and Fiorentina for Gudmundsson.

The Tuscans have reportedly set an ultimatum to sign the Icelandic star which expires this weekend.
