Inter Milan rejected an offer from West Ham United worth €30 million for defender Yann Bisseck this summer.
This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews. They report that the German had been a target for the Hammers in defense prior to the arrival of Jean-Clair Todibo.
23-year-old German youth team international Bisseck was in the Inter starting eleven this evening against Genoa.
It was a mixed game for the defender in the Nerazzurri’s season opener.
Bisseck put in a composed performance on both sides of the ball. Particularly in attack, he had a significant impact on the match from his position on the right side of the back three.
However, it was also Bisseck who gave away the penalty from which Genoa equalized in stoppage time.
The 23-year-old handled the ball inside his own penalty area, leading to a spot kick after a VAR check.
In spite of this unfortunate moment, however, Bisseck’s display in the match showed what an important player he has already become at Inter.
Inter Rejected €30M Offer From West Ham For Yann Bisseck
Bisseck had earned his spot in the starting eleven this evening with his form in preseason.
The German had started for Inter throughout their friendly matches during the summer.
And this preseason form – along with Bisseck’s growth last campaign – inspired no shortage of transfer interest.
According to Sky, there was a major offer from Premier League club West Ham.
The London club put forward a bid worth €30 million for Bisseck, reports the broadcaster.
That would certainly entail a significant profit for Inter. They paid around €7 million to sign Bisseck last summer from Danish side Aarhus.
However, Sky reports, the Nerazzurri declined the bid.
Inter see Bisseck as having an important place in their project for this season, and have little intention of selling the German.
Therefore, West Ham instead moved to sign former Barcelona defender Todibo from Nice. The Frenchman had previously been a major target for Juventus.
