Simone Inzaghi is disappointed with the circumstances in which his Inter Milan team conceded in their 2-2 opening day draw with Genoa.
The Nerazzurri coach spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInter1908, following the Serie A clash.
Inter had to settle for a point in their first match of their Serie A title defense.
The Nerazzurri have drawn away to Genoa for the third consecutive time in Serie A. They have not managed to win against the Grifone in Liguria since 2020.
It was a wild match in which Genoa took the lead in the first half, but Inter quickly equalized through Marcus Thuram.
Then it was Thuram once again who put Inter ahead in the 84th minute.
Inter looked as though they would just about see out their advantage as stoppage time loomed.
However, a clumsy handball but defender Yann Bisseck gave Genoa a lifeline. After a VAR review, referee Ermanno Feliciani pointed to the spot.
And while Inter keeper Yann Sommer was able to save Junior Messias’s effort initially, the former AC Milan and Crotone midfielder was able to turn in the rebound.

Inter coach Inzaghi admitted that “We’re disappointed. Because the guys played a serious, focused match.”
“We created a lot in the first half, then conceded an unfortunate goal.”
“Then we did well to get back in it,” Inzaghi said.
“In the second half we dropped off a bit,” the Inter coach continued.
“I’m not happy with how it went,” the coach continued. “I put Asllani on so we could manage the ball better.”
“It’s hard to win when you allow two goals like that,” Inzaghi went on.
“For a team like us, if you go up in the 84th minute you can’t concede like that.”
Meanwhile, Inzaghi also gave his thoughts on the performance of Bisseck as a whole.
“He had a great match,” the Inter coach said of the German. “Then in the last twenty minutes he wasn’t quite as sharp as he had been in the first esventy.”
“I was going to take him off for Pavard. Then after we took the lead I decided to keep him on because they had a lot of height on crosses.”
“He has to keep working the way he has been in training,” Inzaghi said of Bisseck.
“He made an error. But he’s the first to understand that.”
“He needs to just keep doing what he has been, because he’s a top-class player,” the Inter coach praised Bisseck.
