Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi has decided to start Lautaro Martinez in attack, Yann Bisseck in defense, and Matteo Darmian on the flank against Genoa. This evening’s Serie A opening day clash kicks off at 18.30 CET.

Inter kick off their Serie A title defense this evening.

The Nerazzurri are in Liguria, where they will take on Genoa.

The last two times that Inter faced his opposition at the Marassi, they dropped points. Therefore, Inzaghi has not underestimated the fixture and has named a strong team.

In attack, Inter captain Lautaro Martinez starts.

The Argentine was a late returnee to training after winning the Copa America over the summer.

However, with Mehdi Taremi and Marko Arnautovic picking up muscle injuries in preseason, Martinez cut his vacation short by a couple days so that he could be ready for this evening.

Therefore, Inter can count on their top scorer from each of the past three seasons.

For the rest of the team, Inzaghi has largely gone with the strongest possible starting eleven.

Therefore, none of the summer signings make it into the team.

In goal, firstly, Yann Sommer keeps his starting place from last season.

Then, in defense, Alessandro Bastoni and Francesco Acerbi start. However, there is a notable name completing the defensive trio.

Yann Bisseck Gets The Nod

On the right of Inter’s back three, Inter coach Inzaghi has gone with Yann Bisseck over Benjamin Pavard.

The German has been part of Inter’s preseason training camp from the start. Therefore, he has started in all of the preseason friendlies, where he has impressed.

Then, on the right flank Matteo Darmian starts ahead of Denzel Dumfries.

Meanwhile, at left-wingback Federico Dimarco starts.

In midfield, meanwhile, Inzaghi has gone with the starting trio from last season. As such, all of Nicolo Barella, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and Hakan Calhanoglu start.

Lastly, in attack it is French international Marcus Thuram leading the line alongside Martinez.

Meanwhile, three players are absent due to injury. Tajon Buchanan will be out for the foreseeable future due to a broken leg, whilst Piotr Zielinski and Stefan de Vrij are absent due to muscle injuries.
