Marquee summer arrival Piotr Zielinski is reportedly in line for his Inter Milan debut after overcoming a muscle injury.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, as reported by FCInterNews, the Poland international looks set to return to training.

Zielinski has spent the last two weeks recovering from an injury he suffered during a summer friendly against Pisa.

The 30-year-old will return to training today as he begins preparations for the upcoming clash against Lecce.

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi was without the star midfielder against Genoa last weekend.

It wasn’t an ideal start to the Scudetto defense.

Young defender Yann Bisseck conceded a late penalty, enabling Junior Messias to inspire Genoa to a 2-2 draw.

But with Zielinski back to the fold, Inter will come at Lecce at full bore.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who failed to impress at the Marassi, could surrender his place in the starting line-up to the Polish ace.

Piotr Zielinski Recovers from Injury & Starts Preparations for His Inter Milan Debut

Inter signed Zielinski at the start of the summer, along with Mehdi Taremi.

Both players have joined the club on a free transfer. Yet only the latter made the matchday squad on the opening weekend.

With Zielinski on the sidelines, Inzaghi went for the same midfield set-up that led Inter to the title last term.

However, Mkhitaryan’s performance failed to live up to the billing. Hakan Calhanoglu wasn’t at his best, either.

Therefore, Zielinski’s recovery comes as a massive boost for Inter.

While the Pole returns to the fold, the Nerazzurri must wait a while longer to see two other injured stars back.

Canadian wingback Tajon Buchanan faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a dismal injury at the 2024 Copa America.

Meanwhile, Dutch center-back Stefan de Vrij is still out with a minor fitness problem.

De Vrij could make his first 2024/25 appearance for Inter against Atalanta on August 30.
