Representatives of Oaktree Capital will be in attendance at the San Siro for Inter Milan’s home opener in Serie A against Lecce.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
The beginning of this season marks the start of a new era at Inter.
This is the first season for the Nerazzurri under the ownership of Oaktree Capital.
The US-based fund completed their takeover of the club in May.
This followed a default by previous owners Suning on a massive loan that they’d taken on from Oaktree in 2021. Per the terms of the loan, that failure to pay the debt meant that control of the club passed into the hands of Oaktree.
And contrary to expectations that Oaktree would have little interest in running Inter for any amount of time, the fund has put a new regime in place at the top of Inter.
This has included making Inter CEO Beppe Marotta the club President to replace Steven Zhang.
And this season marks the first time that there will be real signs of Oaktree’s sporting project at Inter.
Oaktree Representatives To Be At Inter Vs Lecce Serie A Clash
Oaktree representative Katherine Ralph was at Inter’s first match of the season last weekend.
Ralph was in the Nerazzurri director’s box for the match away to Genoa. She sat alongside Marotta and Vice-President Javier Zanetti among others.
Ralph has been one of the key figures in managing the transition to Oaktree’s ownership at Inter.
The Oaktree representative was in key meetings with Marotta and other Inter executives in May. She sits on Inter’s board of directors.
But Ralph is not the only Oaktree representative on Inter’s board.
The likes of Alejandro Cano, Renato Meduri, and Carlo Ligori have all been Nerazzurri directors since the Oaktree takeover.
And according to the Gazzetta, all of that trio along with Ralph will be at the San Siro for Inter’s first home match of the campaign against Lecce this evening.
