Davide Frattesi is pushing to start for Inter Milan in Friday’s Serie A match against Atalanta ahead of Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

So far this season, it has been a similar story to last one for Frattesi at Inter.

The Italian international has not started in either of the Nerazzurri’s matches so far during the campaign.

However, Frattesi has come off the bench to make an impact. He has injected energy into Inter’s midfield trio, and assisted Marcus Thuram for their second goal against Genoa.

Frattesi is not satisfied with just impacting matches from the bench, however.

The 24-year-old wants to have the chance to play from the start.

This opportunity may not be far away for Frattesi, though. Inter coach Simone Inzaghi is ready to hand the midfielder a start sooner rather than later.

And the Corriere note that this would not just be Inzaghi trying to appease the player.

The coach believes that Frattesi is genuinely ready to start, having spent a year bedding into the team.

Davide Frattesi Pushing To Start For Inter Vs Atalanta Ahead Of Mkhitaryan

According to the Corriere, Frattesi’s first start for Inter this season could come this week.

Inter host Atalanta in their final match before the international break.

Nerazzurri coach Inzaghi is considering his team selection. The coach is hardly going to make radical changes, but will likely freshen up the team in a couple areas as he did between the first two matches.

And the Corriere report that Frattesi would be a prime candidate in this respect.

Veteran midfielder Mkhitaryan has started both of Inter’s matches so far this season. He saw out the full ninety minutes against Lecce.

But Inzaghi could opt for the more dynamic Frattesi against Atalanta.

The former Sassuolo midfielder has a real chance of being in the lineup from the start against La Dea.
