Midfielder Davide Frattesi is looking more and more like to come into Inter Milan’s starting eleven for Friday’s Serie A clash with Atalanta.

This according to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews. They also report that Nerazzurri captain Lautaro Martinez will also be ready for the match, even if only for the bench.

Inter have gone with the same midfield trio in each of their first two matches of the Serie A campaign.

And it has not been much of a surprise who has lined up in the centre of the pitch for the Nerazzurri.

For much of the past two seasons, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi has had a fairly settled and established first-choice midfield.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Hakan Calhanoglu, and Nicolo Barella have found the right balance in the middle of the park.

However, there is certainly competition for the trio that season.

For one thing, Piotr Zielinski has arrived on a free transfer from Napoli. The 30-year-old Polish international will certainly expect to push for playing time.

Then, there is the young Kristjan Asllani. Now in his third season at Inter, the Albanian has been on a trajectory that has seen him receive more and more playing time.

Davide Frattesi Like To Start For Inter In Serie A Clash Vs Atalanta

Then, there is 24-year-old Italian international Frattesi.

Frattesi joined Inter from Sassuolo in a big money deal last summer.

There have been big expectations for the impact that Frattesi can make at Inter.

And so far, there have certainly been positive moments from Frattesi. But these have tended to come off the bench.

Frattesi scored no less than two stoppage time winners for Inter last season.

And this campaign, the 24-year-old has appeared in both of Inter’s Serie A matches, against Genoa and Lecce.

These were more than just cameo appearances from Frattesi. Particularly against Genoa, he had a big impact, including assisting Inter’s second goal.

But Frattesi will expect even more.

There is no doubt that the former Sassuolo midfielder wants to be a starter in as many matches as possible this season.

And according to Mediaset, it is looking more and more likely that Frattesi will get that chance on Friday.

The broadcaster reports that in the training sessions leading up to the clash with Atalanta, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi is showing more and more inclination to start Frattesi.
