Inter Milan loaned out striker Sebastiano Esposito has no remorse about skipping the U17 World Cup a few years ago in favor of serving his club.

The 22-year-old is one of three brothers who rose through the club’s ranks. His older sibling Salvatore has already left the nest to join Spezia on a permanent basis.

His younger brother Francesco Pio also plies his trade at the Ligurian club, but he remains on Inter’s books.

For his part, Sebastiano has recently signed for Empoli on loan with an option to buy.

The attacker has already made a good impression in his first few outings.

The Italian joined Inter’s first-team ranks as a mere teenager during Antonio Conte’s time at the club.

However, he struggled to carve himself enough playing time in the presence of Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez and Lautaro Martinez.

For a young player like Esposito, earning a permanent place at Inter was always going to be a daunting task, as we’re talking about one of the biggest clubs in Europe. In fact, ExpressVPN found that the Italian champions are on the Top 15 list of the highest-earning football clubs in the world.

Nevertheless, the young attacker still cherishes his time at Conte’s court, even if it cost him a place in the FIFA U17 World Cup.

As he explains, Esposito was initially disappointed to miss out on the global tournament on Conte’s orders.

Sebastiano Esposito Looks Back On Inter Milan Debut

Nevertheless, he was more than happy to make his debut for Inter in both the Serie A and the Champions League.

“At first I wanted to go to the World Cup, but it’s better that it went this way,” said the Empoli striker in his interview with La Giovane Italia Instagram page (via FcInterNews)

“After All, I got to make my debut in Serie A and in the Champions League with Inter. It’s a shame to have lost the opportunity, but I gained something in return.”

The young Italian also recalls how the Nerazzurri fans urged Lukaku to relinquish spot-kick duties in his favor against Genoa,

“The San Siro encouraged Lukaku to leave the penalty to me. I went towards the ball, but Romelu was there and I asked him if I could take it.

“The fans saw the scene and everyone was shouting my name. Romelu then turned and gave it to me, passing it across my chest.”
