Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi is looking forward to the new Champions League group stage, as he feels his side is well-equipped to take on all challengers.

Thursday’s draw pitted the Nerazzurri against Manchester City, Arsenal and Bayer Leverkusen among others.

In the new format, each participant will take on two clubs from each of the four pots. All clubs will feature in one group, with the first eight qualifying directly to the Round of 16, while those who finish between 9th and 24th places will lock horns in a play-off round.

But despite the challenging tasks ahead, Inzaghi is excited about the upcoming European campaign.

“The Champions League will always be a prestigious competition where we want to be protagonists again,” said the 48-year-old in his interview with Inter TV via FcInterNews.

“We have a demanding schedule. But as was the case in the past, we are ready to face these big teams.”

The Italian tactician insists that his men are now more aware of their capabilities after playing on some of the biggest stages over the past few years.

“Fighting on difficult grounds in recent years has given us even more awareness of our strength.

“We have some good matches against important and competitive teams. But I am sure that my boys will give their all to give continuity to our path.”

Inzaghi led Inter towards the Champions League final in 2023. However, the team fell just short against Man City in Istanbul.

Last season, the Nerazzurri didn’t go too far in the competition. They exited at the hands of Atletico Madrid in the Round of 16 following dramatic penalty shootouts in the Spanish capital.
