Inter Milan president Beppe Marotta insists his club has ambitious objectives this season, and won’t choose between Serie A triumph and European glory.

The Nerazzurri reached the Champions League final in June 2023 but endured an underwhelming domestic campaign.

Last season, it was the other way around. The Beneamata identified the Scudetto title as their main objective and succeeded in their mission.

But while they won the Serie A title by a landslide, their European campaign was rather disappointing. They were eliminated from the Champions League Round of 16 at the hands of Atletico Madrid.

But as Marotta explains, there won’t be any compromises from Inter this season. The 67-year-old reveals that the club is hungry for glory on all fronts.

“This team has significantly improved in Italy but also in European commitments, such as the Champions League,” said the Varese native in his interview with Sky Sport Italia via FcInterNews following the Champions League group stage draw in Monte Carlo.

“It’s true that last year we were aiming for the second star as a historic event for the club. But we are Inter and our trophy cabinet features every possible title.

“We are not compromising between the Serie A campaign and the Champions League. We must honor the club in the best way possible.

“Then if there is that pinch of luck so we’ll see how it goes. This season too we have presented a strong squad to Inzaghi.

“We must not create anxiety, but the right pressure that comes naturally at a top club like Inter.”

The UCL draw pitted Inter against Manchester City, Arsenal, Bayer Leverkusen and five other clubs.

Nevertheless, Marotta insists that the Nerazzurri must not take any opponent for granted.

“I can say that this season, the clubs that have provided players to the various national teams are having more difficulty in the early phase.

“So it is clear that meeting a very strong opponent right away would represent a greater threat. But perhaps the pitfalls are hidden behind an underestimated team. You should never underestimate anyone.”

Inter Milan President Beppe Marotta Dwells On The Club’s Big Ambitions

Marotta insists Inter are an ambitious club, but it doesn’t make them arrogant.

“Yes, we’ll try to get into the Top Eight. Inzaghi may not think like me, but we need to share what may seem like dreams at first, but we are Inter and we need to be ambitious.

“Then we mustn’t confuse arrogance with ambition, but we need to defend our history, which is not arrogance but the desire to do well.

“Our Ambition derives from the value of the team. We have great quality and a history that requires us to always do well.

“If we don’t succeed, it will mean that the others were better than us”.
