Inter Milan are on the verge of completing the transfer of Tomas Palacios, but one final bureaucratic hurdle is hindering the operation.

Afte pondering their options on the market, the Italian champions eventually identified the young Argentine as the right profile to shore up Simone Inzaghi’s defensive department.

The 21-year-old is a Tallares youth product who earned the plaudits this season while on loan at Independiente Rivadavia.

The Argentine is a left-footed defender who’s physically imposing and slick in possession. Hence, he possesses all the main attributes the Nerazzurri have been seeking.

Palacios has already landed in Italy, finalized his medical tests and signed his Inter contract.

Yet, one final detail has been holding out the official announcement, explains La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews.

The pink newspaper reveals that the Argentinian Football Federation has yet to give the green light for the transfer.

This is due to some previous problems related to Independiente Rivadavia’s option to buy the player from Talleres.

Nevertheless, GdS expects this issue to be resolved today, paving the way for the official announcement.

Palacios will cost Inter a transfer fee of circa 6.5 million euros. The figure could rise up to 11M after adding bonuses. Independiente and Talleres will equally share the spoils.

The young Argentine will initially act as Alessandro Bastoni’s understudy in the left centre-back role.

Nevertheless, he will be hoping to earn some playing time in what will be a long and exhausting campaign for the Nerazzurri.

Aside from their Serie A and Coppa Italia commitments, Inter will participate in the Champions League, the Italian Super Cup tournament and the first edition of the expanded FIFA Club World Cup.
