AIA referee designator Gianluca Rocchi applauded Inter Milan president Beppe Marotta for his exemplary behavior.

As is often the case, the performances of Serie A referees have been under great scrutiny at the start of the new campaign.

This inevitable debate rages almost after every controversial episode involving a refereeing decision.

But while other top club officials are quick to point the finger, Rocchi praises Marotta for his serene and wise approach.

Therefore, the referee designator thanks the Nerazzurri CEO, while inviting his colleagues to follow his example by straying away from controversy and avoiding making accusations.

“We must avoid always thinking about things that don’t exist when a referee commits a mistake,” said Rocchi while explaining the new guidelines at the Sheraton Hotel in San Siro, the venue that is also hosting the final few days of the summer transfer market (via FcInterNews).

“I thank Marotta for how he operates at Inter. And I add that the Referee Assistant Manager is an ideal figure with whom to relate and discuss in order to avoid many cases and even episodes during matches.”

Rocchi also intends to limit the wasted time resulting from VAR reviews. He would like to see a higher percentage of effective playing time.

“We want referees to decide on the pitch without technology. For a thousand reasons, this is the most important path. It is also crucial in terms of wasted time.

“The first two rounds went badly in terms of effective time. We are also giving too many added minutes. We even got to 13 minutes in Genoa vs Inter.

“The second day went much better and there were examples like Verona-Juventus. We only had seven minutes of added time during that contest. There was also a high percentage of effective minutes.”
