Although we’re only a few away away from the end of the summer transfer market, the future of Inter Milan striker Joaquin Correa remains shrouded in mystery.

The 30-year-old returned to Appiano Gentile this summer following an abysmal loan spell at Olympique Marseille. He failed to score a goal or produce an assist in all competitions throughout the season.

The Argentine’s displays in pre-season also weren’t encouraging, so Inter have been struggling to find him a buyer.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews, Correa’s day will start like any other. He will be part of Simone Inzaghi’s matchday squad that is preparing for tonight’s big Serie A showdown against Atalanta.

And yet, the fate of the Argentina international remains a mystery.

So with only a few hours before the transfer window slams shut, the former Lazio man still doesn’t know where he’ll be playing his football this season.

Inter are still hoping to receive a late proposal from a suitor so they can take the striker off the wage bill.

Inter Milan Striker Joaquin Correa Facing Uncertain Future

Nevertheless, if an exit doesn’t materialize, Correa will remain at Inzaghi’s court, but could be left starving for playing time.

After all, the Argentine remains at the very bottom of the attacking hierarchy. The manager considers him a fifth-choice striker behind Lautaro Martinez, Marcus Thuram, Mehdi Taremi and Marko Arnautovic.

If he ends up staying at Appiano Gentile, the former Sevilla and Sampdoria man would thus see out his contract which will expire at the end of the season.

Correa enjoyed his best career stint while plying his trade at Lazio between 2018 and 2021. But his career has been on a steep decline since making the move to Inter three years ago.
