Sampdoria are reportedly trying to land Inter Milan goalkeeper Ionut Andrei Radu on the final day of the summer transfer session.

The Nerazzurri can expect a relatively quiet deadline day while others are still hustling.

Nevertheless, Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio still have a few matters to resolve.

For instance, the management is now working on finalizing the transfer of Independiente Rivadavia defender Tomas Palacios, albeit it’s only a matter of time now.

Moreover, the Italian champions are still hoping to offload some of the deadwood, and this includes their unwanted goalkeeper Radu.

The 27-year-old is coming off an underwhelming loan stint at Bournemouth. The Nerazzurri have been struggling to find him a new home, despite links with several possible suitors.

The Romanian’s agent recently explained that his client turned down the likes of Palermo and Sassuolo because they were only offering loan moves while the goalkeeper is seeking a permanent switch.

But in the last hours of the summer transfer market, Sampdoria have reportedly rekindled their interest in the player.

According to Sky Sport Italia via FcInterNews, the Blucerchiati are working on agreements with both Inter and Radu.

The Ligurians were keeping tabs on the Romania international earlier in the summer, alongside Filip Stankovic who had spent the previous campaign on loan at the Luigi Ferraris.

Nevertheless, young custodian Paolo Vismara managed to convince Andrea Pirlo during the pre-season.

However, Sampdoria have now sacked the legendary AC Milan and Juventus midfielder. They replaced him with Andrea Sottil who might have other ideas on this matter.

Hence, Sampdoria will be hoping to seal a deal for Radu before the transfer window slams shut.

For the 27-year-old, this would be a return to the Luigi Ferraris stadium, having represented Genoa in the past.

The goalkeeper’s contract with Inter will expire at the end of the season.
