Federico Dimarco feels that Inter Milan have given a demonstration of who they are with their 4-0 Serie A thrashing of Atalanta.

Speaking to InterTV after the match, via FCInterNews, the Italian international reacted to the emphatic victory.

Inter head into the first international break of the season with all the momentum behind them.

The Nerazzurri had begun the season with a disappointing draw away to Genoa.

But now that seems a distant memory. After beating Lecce last weekend, the Nerazzurri steamrolled Atalanta in their third match of the campaign.

On paper, La Dea were Inter’s toughest opponents of the campaign yet.

Gian Piero Gasperini’s team are last season’s Europa League winners. They are also regulars in the top four of the Serie A table.

But the scoreline told a different story.

Inter were 2-0 up by the tenth minute of play, as their early aggression paid off.

Two more goals and a second clean sheet of the season for Yann Sommmer meant that the Nerazzurri secured three points for the second week in a row.

Federico Dimarco: “We’re Inter & We Have To Prove It”

Inter’s opening draw in Liguria perhaps raised some doubts about whether Inter are the same team as they were last season.

But the Nerazzurri started to answer those doubts with a businesslike win over Lecce.

And now, with yesterday’s rout of Atalanta, Inter have made it very clear who they are.

“We have to keep working like we have been,” said wingback Dimarco after yesterday’s match. “We have to retrace our steps from last season.”

“We’re Inter and we have to prove it,” the Italian international said.

“This period hasn’t been easy,” Dimarco added. “We returned to preseason in a staggered way, and we still need more matches to get back into form.”

“We’re happy with how we’ve finished this cycle of three matches,” the 26-year-old said.

Dimarco noted that “The teams around us have strengthened. But we’re on the right path.”
