Simone Inzaghi once again proved to be the perfect nemesis for Gian Piero Gasperini in Inter Milan’s 4-0 thrashing of Atalanta.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Inter coach Inzaghi and his Atalanta opposite number Gasperini have met on numerous occasions.

Since Inzaghi took over at the Nerazzurri, the pair have faced off in seven matches to date.

Initially, the Inter coach could not quite figure out how to beat Gasperini’s Atalanta. Both meetings in the former Lazio boss’s first campaign at the helm ended in draws.

But by the time Inzaghi’s first campaign as Inter coach came along, he had figured out the trick.

Both matches between Inter and Atalanta in the 2022-23 season were 3-2 thrillers. And both went the way of Inter.

Last season, meanwhile, it was six more points for Inzaghi’s Inter against La Dea.

After a 2-1 win in the fall, Inter thrashed their Lombard rivals by a 4-0 scoreline.

Inzaghi Proves Gasperini Kryptonite Again As Inter Rout Atalanta

It was the same scoreline again in this season’s first meeting between Inter and Atalanta.

On paper, the Nerazzurri were facing their hardest match of the campaign thus far.

Atalanta finished last season in the top four of the Serie A table, something they have made a habit of under Gasperini.

And La Dea also showed what they’re capable of by winning the Europa League last season.

Convincing wins over Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen showed just how effective Gasperini’s style of play can be.

But Inzaghi had all the answers to Atalanta’s disciplined man-marking system.

With and without the ball, Inter were able to move the Atalanta players around very well.

This gave the Nerazzurri plenty of space in which to attack the Atalanta penalty area.

And defensively, Inter always had solid coverage, whether it was defending counterattacks or getting into their shell and denying La Dea space.

After a fifth consecutive win, and second in a row by a 4-0 scoreline, Inzaghi appears to be the coach with the answers to this Atalanta side.
