Inter Milan are hoping for “maximum caution” with Alessandro Bastoni and Hakan Calhanoglu during the international break.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

From an Inter perspective, there weren’t too many blemishes on yesterday evening’s match at the San Siro.

The Nerazzurri demolished Atalanta 4-0. That was the same scoreline as the last Serie A meeting between the two Lombard clubs.

However, there was one notable black mark on proceedings for the Nerazzurri.

This came in the form of two key players having to come off due to some fitness worries.

During the second half, Inter coach Inzaghi removed both Calhanoglu and Bastoni. Kristjan Asllani and Carlos Augusto took their respective places off the bench.

Inter Hope For “Maximum Caution” With Bastoni & Calhanoglu During Break

Nerazzurri coach Inzaghi did not seem too worried about the fitness of Bastoni and Calhanoglu in his post-match remarks.

He suggested that the issues for the duo “don’t seem like anything serious.”

However, the Inter coach will know that fitness issues can always derail his plans.

The problem for both of Bastoni and Calhanoglu is nothing more than a bit of muscular fatigue.

For the defender, the problem is in the soleus muscle of his right leg. And for the midfielder, the left hip flexor is the issue.

The Gazzetta report that there will be no medical tests for either of the pair.

Inter are confident that there is no need for that. The problem for both players is self-evident, and there is no indication that there could be serious underlying issues.

And therefore, both Bastoni and Calhanoglu will go away with the Italian and Turkish national teams respectively.

But Inter have made one thing clear. They want “maximum caution” with both players.

Both in training and in the Nations League fixtures during the break, the last thing the Nerazzurri want would be to risk more serious injuries with either Bastoni or Calhanoglu.
