Inter Milan are already reaching the levels that saw them win the Serie A title last season – but they don’t want to stop there.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, after the Nerazzurri’s thorough victory over Atalanta on Friday.

There can be no denying that Inter went into this season with the pressure of being favourites to win the Serie A title.

Of course, there are other teams who have done work over the summer to try and catch up.

But the Nerazzurri did not just win last season’s title. They did so by a margin of nearly twenty points.

Therefore, the consensus has been that if Inter can maintain lasts campaign’s levels, they will be incredibly difficult to catch,

Inter Milan Already Reaching Serie A Title Levels – But Not Aiming To Stop

Inter’s first couple of matches of the season sent mixed signals, from the perspective of repeating the title.

The Nerazzurri’s campaign got off to a disappointing start. They drew away in Genoa, conceding an equalizer in stoppage time at the Marassi.

The fact that Inter haven’t won away to Genoa since 2020 meant that this was perhaps an understandable early stumble.

But the Nerazzurri’s response in their next match against Lecce was not altogether emphatic.

Inter got the job done. They beat Lecce for their first match of the season. But it was more of a businesslike victory.

The sense was still that last season’s Inter was not yet on full display.

The heat and lack of fitness that always make August matches a struggle was certainly holding Inter back.

But on Friday, there was no doubt about the identity of the team at the San Siro.

All the hallmarks of last season’s Inter were on show. The fluid positional interchanges both with and without the ball allowed the Nerazzurri to dominate La Dea, even without having the majority of possession.

Inter beat Atalanta 4-0 in their previous meeting in the spring. And they repeated the trick this season.

There can be little doubt that the Nerazzurri have found their groove.

But Inter are not content to stop there. They will now be thinking about how they can reach even higher levels.
