Despite refusing a late summer switch to Pescara, Inter Milan youngster Eddie Salcedo could still leave Giuseppe Meazza.
According to FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri starlet turned down an approach from the Serie C outfit as he doesn’t want to play third-tier football.
Salcedo joined the Inter youth academy from Genoa in 2018.
However, he has never established himself in the senior squad.
Over the past few years, he wandered from place to place, searching for regular first-team action.
Indeed, Inter first loaned him out to Hellas Verona between 2019 and 2021.
Underwhelming loan moves to Spezia, Bari, Genoa, Eldense, and Lecco followed up before he returned to Meazza this summer.
But with Simone Inzaghi ruling Salcedo out of his project, the 22-year-old was supposed to leave Inter in the summer transfer window.
Pescara made a late approach to offer the Italian forward an escape route from Lombardia.
They were ready to match the player’s salary. However, he had other plans.
Instead of seizing the opportunity to play frequently, Salcedo rebuffed the third-tier club.
He hoped to draw interest from more prominent teams and was desperate to continue his development in Serie A or Serie B.
Yet, it didn’t happen, leaving Salcedo’s future in limbo.
Inter Milan Youngster Eddie Salcedo Could Leave Meazza After Turning Down Pescara
Though the transfer window in top European leagues is over, Inter still hope to offload Salcedo.
His agent, Alessandro Moggi, is frantically searching for a new destination for the out-of-favor talent.
Since he boasts ‘excellent’ contacts in Qatar, Salcedo could swap Serie A for the Middle East.
While it’s not a perfect landing spot for a player of such a young age, the Inter outcast isn’t in a position to choose.
Inter would ideally cash in on Salcedo immediately instead of shipping him out on another loan.
