Legendary Italian football manager Fabio Capello offered a piece of advice to Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi while ruling out Lautaro Martinez from the Ballon d’Or race.

The Nerazzurri entered the new campaign as the reigning Serie A champions and ultimate favorites to clinch the title at the end of the season, especially after dominating the Italian landscape last term.

Inter settled for a draw in Genoa on the opening day of the season. But they have since bounced back with a 2-0 win over Lecce and a 4-0 demolition of Atalanta.

Therefore, Capello was left impressed by what he’d seen from the Italian champions thus far.

“I saw Inter press against everyone,” noted the 78-year-old in his interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews.

“They displayed anger and desire. When they decide to recover the ball, they make furious runs. Even their defenders join the attacks.”

Hence, the former Real Madrid, Roma and Juventus manager agrees that Inter are the favorites to win their second title in a row.

However, the Italian tactician warns Inzaghi to avoid untimely team rotations.

“Inter are the most prepared, the most complete, the most tested in their playing system.

“The most difficult thing for Inzaghi will be knowing how to rotate.

“Watch out for the mistake he made at Benfica last season when he changed more than half the team. You should change two or three players at most.”

Marcus Thuram is currently leading the Capocannoniere race. But Capello insists Lautaro Martinez remains technically superior.

“Lautaro is technically stronger than Thruam who still has to improve, although he made a great start. It will be an interesting head-to-head.”

Nevertheless, the former England manager expects the Nerazzurri captain to fall short in the Ballon d’Or race despite landing on the 30-man shortlist.

“I don’t think he’d be a worthy winner yet. For me, the Ballon d’Or is the best award in the world. Today, I would vote for one between Rodri and Vinicius.”
