AC Milan striker Alvaro Morata can’t wait to take part in the Derby della Madonnina against Inter Milan after attending previous editions incognito.

The 31-year-old signed for the Rossoneri this summer, completing a transfer from Atletico Madrid.

He marked his debut for Milan with a goal after coming off the bench against Torino, helping his side clinch a point in the 2-2 draw.

The Spaniard then sustained an injury that ruled him out of action for a few weeks.

However, he should be available for selection ahead of the upcoming Derby clash on September 22nd.

Morata had two previous spells at Juventus, so he’s no stranger to Italian football.

The EURO 2024 winner thus expressed his excitement for this grand occasion, revealing how he used to attend the Derby undercover just so he could experience the atmosphere.

“I can’t wait to play the Derby,” said the Spain international in his interview with Sky Sport Italia via FcInterNews.

“I can finally admit it: I’ve come to San Siro several times as a fan, with a cap and sunglasses, and no one noticed my presence.

“It’s because I wanted to experience the atmosphere. Even from the outside, you understand how important this match is.

“I can’t wait to score and win a Derby and make the Milan fans proud.”

Morata acknowledges Inter’s strength but insists the Derby is played and won with heart and determination.

“Inter are a very competitive team, they have great quality. In the Derby, you have to play with your heart.

“You can also make a mistake in a pass or waste a chance, but you just can’t lack the desire to fight and give everything on the pitch.

“The hunger to win is fundamental, and you can’t go wrong in such an important match.’
