Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi will have Tajon Buchanan at his disposal once more much earlier than was initially expected.

The wingback sustained an injury to his tibia during his participation in the Copa America last July.

The 25-year-old immediately left Canada’s camp and underwent surgery to repair the damage.

But while the initial diagnosis suggested the player will be out of action until either December or January, he has been making great strides in his recovery path.

As reported yesterday, Inter posted a photo of Buchanan training on the pitch for the first time since sustaining the injury.

So while his ordeal isn’t over just yet, this new development suggests the player’s return is drawing closer.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews, Buchanan has been raising his training tempo since the start of the week. Moreover, he hasn’t been showing any fear of a potential relapse.

The pink newspaper explains that the wingback will continue to work on regaining his fitness until the end of the month.

Inter Milan Star Tajon Buchanan Aiming For October Return

The source thus expects him to rejoin his teammates in group training by the start of October.

If it all goes according to plan, Buchanan could be available for selection by mid-October.

The report adds that the Canadian’s inclusion in the Champions League squad was a further sign of an early return.

Inzaghi placed him on the list at the expense of Joaquin Correa and new signing Tomas Palacios.

Buchanan is a versatile winger who can also play as a wingback on either flank. He mainly featured on the left lane since joining the club in January.
