Midfielder Davide Frattesi will demand greater playing time at Inter Milan this season after his exploits with Italy in the Nations League.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Over the summer, Inter had a frank chat with Frattesi’s representatives.
The 24-year-old wanted to clear the air regarding the role that he would play at the Nerazzurri.
Frattesi arrived at Inter last summer.
And despite the Nerazzurri making a big investment to sign the Italian international from Sassuolo, in his first season at the club he was not a regular starter.
This was not necessarily a big surprise.
Frattesi was coming into a new environment as a young player. He had to try and break into a midfield containing players like Nicolo Barella, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and Hakan Calhanoglu.
Therefore, it was always likely that there would be a long period of settling in.
Frattesi understood why he was not a regular starter last season. He made his contribution when he had his chances.
Davide Frattesi Demands More Inter Playing Time After Italy Heroics
Over the summer, though, Frattesi clearly indicated to Inter that he wants to start regularly.
That does not mean that the 24-year-old expects to start every match, of course.
But with the need to rotate other midfielders, Frattesi is expecting that he will start more than a handful of matches for Inter.
So far in Serie A, though, Frattesi has yet to start a match this season. Instead the former Sassuolo midfielder has appeared in all three of Inter’s matches from the bench.
For Italy, on the other hand, Frattesi started in both of the Azzurri’s Nations League matches during the international break.
The fact that Frattesi scored in both matches – and performed well – buttresses his case to start more frequently for Inter.
Therefore, the 24-year-old is only going to knock harder at the door. He wants to start matches for Inter, and he doesn’t want to wait any longer.
