Former Napoli, Chelsea, and Juventus coach Maurizio Sarri feels that at the moment, Inter Milan remain the favourites for the Serie A title.

Sarri spoke to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, via FCInterNews.

Inter are one of four teams currently sitting on seven points in Serie A.

And while Torino and Udinese have done well to get off to a flying start to the season, few would have either in the title picture.

On the other hand, Juventus certainly have their eye on a return to the top of the table.

The Bianconeri invested big in the summer to support new coach Thiago Motta.

And the very early signs are that Juventus could be ready to push Inter harder than they did last season after their spring collapse.

Meanwhile, Napoli are on six points. After a disastrous start to the season against Hellas Verona, Antonio Conte has guided them to a couple convincing victories.

Sarri: “Inter Serie A Title Favourites, Waiting To See More From The Other Teams”

Meanwhile, things get more complicated among the other teams who’d been expected to fight for the title.

Inter’s city rivals AC Milan have endured an awful start to the campaign.

The Rossoneri have yet to win a match, and have taken just two points.

That is also true of Roma, who have begun the season in similarly unconvincing fashion.

Meanwhile, Atalanta are on three points, having lost 0-4 to Inter before the international break.

And then Lazio have taken four points thus far in Serie A.

Asked if he thinks that Inter are Serie A title favourites, coach Sarri agreed “Yes, that’s the first impression.”

“But I’m waiting to see how the other teams evolve.”

“We still have to see more from Motta’s Juventus,” Sarri said. “And also Conte’s Napoli.”

“Milan could also evolve positively,” the coach argued. “Their squad is strong. And the same goes for Roma, who have signed some new players.”
