Inter Milan will be feeling massive pressure to respond to last weekend’s derby defeat against AC Milan with three points against Udinese.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They argue that the Nerazzurri have no option but to win.

Last weekend, Inter hit their first big setback of the season.

The Nerazzurri fell to a massively disappointing defeat to city rivals.

This was certainly not the ideal fixture in which to experience the first loss of the campaign.

Moreover, Inter could hardly complain that luck hadn’t been on their side. The Rossoneri outplayed them for much of the match and were well deserving of the victory.

That loss followed an impressive showing to earn a draw away to Manchester City in the Champions League.

Meanwhile, Inter had drawn both of their away matches in the league so far, against Genoa and Monza.

There were also convincing wins against the likes of Lecce and Atalanta in the league.

Inter Have No Option But To Respond To AC Milan Loss Vs Udinese

The loss to Milan was certainly a painful one for Inter.

But it has not yet plunged the Nerazzurri into an out-and-out crisis.

Inter have had a week to reflect on last Sunday’s derby defeat, and get back on their feet. They’ll know that defeats are a part of football, and something they must put in the rear view mirror.

And Inter have the opportunity to do just that this evening.

The Nerazzurri are in Friuli, where they’ll take on Udinese.

A victory this evening would be a big step forward to for Inter to get their season back on track.

But Inter certainly won’t be taking that for granted.

The Friulani are never an easy side to face in Serie A, including for the bigger teams. And the fixture is particularly difficult away from home.

Moreover, Udinese have enjoyed a strong start to the campaign.

Therefore, the risk is certainly there that Inter could drop points yet again.

And if that were to happen, then the fissures that opened in the derby last weekend, would become a gaping hole in Inter’s title defense.
