Simone Inzaghi feels that Inter Milan must get back to their usual selves against Udinese after last weekend’s defeat to AC Milan.
The Nerazzurri coach spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, ahead of today’s Serie A clash. He also noted that this is a big opportunity for midfielder Davide Frattesi.
Last Sunday Inter suffered their first loss of the Serie A season.
And as if that weren’t bad enough, the defeat came in the derby against city rivals AC Milan.
The Rossoneri snapped a run of six derbies won by Inter. They looked the hungrier and more organized of the two teams throughout.
Having also drawn against the likes of Genoa and Monza in the first few matches, Inter find themselves a bit mired in midtable now.
The Nerazzurri need to start stringing together wins if they don’t want to see their Serie A title defense go off the rails.
Inzaghi: “The Real Inter Needs To Come Out” Vs Udinese
Taking three points against Udinese will hardly be a straightforward task for Inter.
But the Nerazzurri need to find the kind of form that they showed throughout last season.
Inter coach Inzaghi said that “We’ve spent the last 4-5 days working in training.”
“We’ve analyzed what we needed to do better,” he said of the derby loss.
“There were some points where we needed to do things differently. And be more of a team.”
Inzaghi admitted that “We lost deservedly.”
“But we worked positively over the past week to erase the errors we made,” he insisted.
“We conceded from a set piece in the derby,” Inzaghi noted. “But overall we conceded too much on the counter.”
“We know Milan are a strong team,” he continued.
Of Inter captain Lautaro Martinez, who has struggled for form at the start of the season, Inzaghi argued that “I wouldn’t only talk about him.”
“I think we’re a mature team,” the Inter coach said. “We’re not happy with the last match, and will try to do better against a side who are in good form.”
“We need the Inter that we’ve seen in the last few years to come out,” Inzaghi said.
Meanwhile, the Nerazzurri coach also spoke about the chance for Davide Frattesi to start in place of the injured Nicolo Barella.
“It’s an important chance for him,” he said.
“He’s done well in training. We’ve been happy with what we’ve seen in training, and today he gets his turn, as was the case in Monza, and when he came on in Manchester.”
“He has to keep working as he always has since he came to Inter,” Inzaghi said of Frattesi. “Without pressure.”
