Former Inter Milan & Italy Defender: “Inter Unbeatable When Lautaro & Thuram Play Well”

Former Inter Milan defender Daniele Adani is adamant the Nerazzurri are unbeatable when Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram are at their best.

During an interview with Viva el Futbol, as reported by FCInterNews, Adani took stock of Inter’s win against Udinese and revealed a key ingredient behind their recent Serie A dominance.

After winning the Capocannoniere award last term, Lautaro Martinez has endured an underwhelming start to the new league campaign.

It took the 2024 Copa America winner six matches into the 2024/25 Serie A season to break his scoring drought.

However, once he did, the second came naturally.

Martinez found his season breakthrough toward the end of the first half at the Bluenergy Stadium with a routine tap-in.

But his second was a piece of art.

Thuram played him through with a simple pass, but he still had all to do.

That’s where his well-documented ‘killer instincts’ kicked in.

Indeed, the Inter captain picked up the ball on the edge of the box and smashed it past Maduka Okoye with a devastating effort.

For the first time this season, Simone Inzaghi’s deadly duo combined to give the Nerazzurri a crucial three points.

And Adani believes if they can maintain their form, no one would be able to stop Inter from defending their domestic crown.

Daniele Adani Deems Inter Milan Unplayable When Lautaro Martinez & Marcus Thuram Are In Form

“For me, Inter starts every game 1-0 because they’re very strong,” Adani said.

“For me, if everyone is at their best, Inter wins, because they made me think this.

“Looking at the first games of this year, the strikers did not do so well together compared to the whole of last season,” he continued.

“The indication is that Inter played a total type of game, and when everyone is involved, the collective prevails.

“But the two players who make the team play better are the two strikers.

“Juve are missing quality in the last third, Milan have found results with the work of Morata and two strikers.

“Inter, when Thuram and Lautaro play well, are unbeatable. Because everything else comes from Calhanoglu and Mkhitaryan who lean and enter.

“They have their heads held high and had the right movement.

“If the two strikers play at a low level, the maneuver is cumbersome, in the restarts you are in a bad way, you are less inspired and you have to be quick in possession.”
