Piotr Zielinski is over the moon after helping Inter Milan tear Red Star Belgrade to pieces in a mammoth 4-0 UEFA Champions League win.
During his post-match chat with Sky Sport, as reported by FCInterNews, the ex-Napoli midfielder refused to hide his delight for the victory.
Piotr Zielinski has been on the fringes of the Inter squad in the early season.
However, it hasn’t been Simone Inzaghi’s technical choice but a consequence of the Poland international’s recurring injury issues.
Indeed, the 30-year-old has only made 55 minutes of Serie A action since arriving from Napoli as a free agent in the summer.
While he’s yet to earn regular first-team opportunities in the domestic championship, he fares well on the continental front.
Inzaghi trusted the highly-rated playmaker to partner with Hakan Calhanoglu against Manchester City.
The duo’s formidable partnership worked wonders, enabling Inter to cope with one of the world’s best midfield line-ups.
Last night, he was not as decisive as at the Etihad Stadium. But he played the entire 90 minutes for the first time this season.
Nonetheless, his contribution was immense.
Inter dominated the field. It was thanks to his laser-sharp passing and intelligent movements between the lines.

“In the first half, they put us in a lot of difficulty,” Zielinski said. “They started well and sometimes created a few too many chances.
“But my teammates and Sommer were good at defending and we managed to win.
“We are happy to have won 4-0 and we have to continue.”
Zielinski also highlighted the significance of packing a punch in the new Champions League format.
“Let’s say that the more goals we score, the better.
“But the important thing is to win games, if we win them all we are safe to go through.
“These are difficult away games because these teams want to be seen in the European showcase with the big teams.
“They will certainly want to put us in difficulty, we will have to be good and play with our qualities.
“But we’ll think about it later, now let’s think about Torino.”
