Henrikh Mkhitaryan admits that Inter Milan “can’t keep defending” the way that they have in their last few matches.

The Armenian spoke to Italian broadcaster RAI Sport, via FCInterNews, after his team’s 3-2 Serie A win over Torino yesterday.

Inter have managed to win both of their last two matches in Serie A.

However, they needed three goals to do so on both occasions.

In many ways, Inter’s matches against Udinese and Torino followed a fairly similar pattern. In both, Inter were able to take the lead early, but couldn’t really kill off the game.

This could become a problem for the Nerazzurri as the season wears on.

It would hardly be realistic to expect Inter to score three or more goals in every match that they play.

Therefore, if Inter want to start picking up points at a relentless pace, it is at the other hand where they will have to make improvements.

Last season, Inter’s defensive record was the bedrock of their success in Serie A.

But this time around, the Nerazzurri are struggling to regain that kind of form.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan: “Inter Milan Can’t Keep Defending Like This”

Inter midfielder Mkhitaryan said after yesterday’s clash with Torino that the defensive efforts have to be “collective” rather than individual.

“Because we all have to defend together,” the former Arsenal and Manchester United veteran explained.

“We’re conceding a lot of goals at the moment,” Mkhitaryan said.

The 35-year-old said that “We can improve that aspect during the break.”

“We’re aware that we can’t afford to keep playing like this defensively. We’re trying to improve.”

Of trying to defend their Serie A title, Mkhitaryan said that “It won’t be easy” for Inter.

“Because a lot of teams have strengthened.”

“It will be a tough season,” the Armenian said. “No one said it was easy to win the title.”

“We think about winning each match at a time, and then at the end of the season we’ll see where we are,” Mkhitaryan reflected.
