Their resilience makes them a thrilling team to follow, always capable of overturning the odds.

Inter vs. Napoli (1989)

In 1989, Giovanni Trapattoni’s Inter Milan faced a tough Napoli team led by none other than Diego Maradona. Napoli were fighting to catch up to Inter in the Serie A title race in a pivotal match.

The Partenopei opened the scoring with a stunning goal from Careca, leaving Inter on the back foot.

However, Inter responded brilliantly. Baresi equalized with a deflected shot, setting the stage for a dramatic finale. In the final minutes of the match, Lothar Matthäus scored a superb free-kick, securing a 2-1 victory.

This comeback not only handed Inter their 13th league title but also solidified their nickname as Inter dei record for their dominant season. The match against Napoli showcased Inter’s ability to turn the tide in difficult situations, marking a pivotal moment in their domestic success.

Inter vs. Barcelona (2010 Champions League Semi-Final)

Perhaps the most iconic of Inter’s comebacks came in the 2010 Champions League semi-final against Barcelona. Facing Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering Barcelona,

Inter were not given much of a chance. Yet, in the first leg at San Siro, Inter stunned Barcelona with a 3-1 victory, thanks to goals from Wesley Sneijder, Maicon, and Diego Milito.

The second leg at Camp Nou was one of immense pressure. Inter was reduced to 10 men early in the match when Thiago Motta was sent off.

Barcelona, known for their relentless attack, threw everything at the Italian side. Despite a 1-0 loss on the night, Inter’s resilient defense, orchestrated by José Mourinho, held firm. Inter advanced to the final on aggregate, 3-2.

This incredible comeback against one of Europe’s best teams solidified Inter’s return to the pinnacle of European football and set the stage for their eventual Champions League triumph in 2010, completing a historic treble.

Inter Milan vs. AC Milan (2020 Derby Comeback)

One of the most dramatic Milan derbies in recent years came in February 2020. Inter Milan found themselves at 2-0 by halftime against their fierce rivals, AC Milan, in the Derby della Madonnina.

However, coach Antonio Conte used this moment to inspire the team, reminding them of the pride and passion that came with wearing the Inter jersey.

What followed was a stunning second-half turnaround. Inter came out roaring and scored four unanswered goals that ultimately won them the match.

Goals from Brozović, Matías Vecino, Stefan de Vrij, and a signature Lukaku finish, completed the extraordinary comeback.

This victory was not only a statement of Inter’s strength but also a pivotal moment in their Serie A campaign under Conte, showcasing the team’s resilience and fighting spirit.
