Wingback Tajon Buchanan is not yet back in full training for Inter Milan.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that the Nerazzurri aren’t going to take any risks with the 25-year-old fitness.

It’s been quite a long road back to fitness for Buchanan.

The former Club Brugge wingback suffered a very serious injury during the summer. He fractured his tibia while in training with Canada during the Copa America in June.

Following that injury, Buchanan immediately underwent surgery.

Then came the long process of recovering from the leg break and subsequent surgery for Buchanan.

This certainly came as a major setback for Buchanan in terms of both his national team and club career.

Buchanan had only just joined Inter last January.

The Canadian had not yet started for the Nerazzurri. However, he made a number of substitute appearances last season, showing his quality and evening getting his first goal for the club.

But Buchanan missed all of the preseason as well as every match this season to date.

Tajon Buchanan Not Yet Back In Full Training For Inter Milan

Last month, Buchanan made a full recovery from his broken leg.

That has meant that for the past few weeks, the 25-year-old has been working on an individual training program. The aim has been for him to regain match-fitess and sharpness.

The hope has been that Buchanan could reintegrate into the squad for full training during the international break.

There had even been some reports that the Canadian could target being available for Inter’s first match back from the break. That is against Roma in Serie A this weekend.

However, Inter are hardly going to rush Buchanan back.

There are still some significant doubts regarding the Canadian’s fitness after such a long time on the sidelines.

Therefore, Buchanan is not yet back in full training. He will be once it is deemed absolutely certain that he is ready.

Therefore, the long-awaited return could still come in one of Inter’s first few matches back from the international break.

Buchanan may still be back sooner than earlier projections that he would only be able to be back on the pitch at the end of October or start of November at the earliest.
