Inter Milan & Italy Star Declares: ‘We’re A Bit Behind In Serie A, But We Can Catch Up’

Alessandro Bastoni admits that Inter Milan have some catching up to do in Serie A, but believes that it’s possible.

The 25-year-old spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, ahead of this evening’s clash with Roma.

There is pressure on Inter to take three points from their Serie A clash with Roma this evening.

All of Napoli, Juventus, and AC Milan have won this weekend in Serie A.

That means that the Rossoneri are now level on points with Inter, with fourteen. And Juventus have jumped a couple points ahead of the Nerazzurri.

Meanwhile, Napoli are, for the time being, five points clear of Inter at the top.

Inter can go back ahead of Milan and Juventus if they are to beat Roma this evening. And they can reduce the gap to Napoli in top spot to just two points.

But that’s not going to be easy. Roma will prove formidable opposition, particularly at the Stadio Olimpico.

And if Inter are to fail to take maximum points this evening, they could really find themselves with work to do in their efforts to defend their Serie A title.

Alessandro Bastoni: “Inter A Bit Behind In Serie A, But Can Catch Up”

Bastoni said that this evening’s match is “very important, because we’re a bit behind right now.”

“But luckily the league is waiting for us. We’re very charged up for this match.

As far as what Inter need to get past their defensive struggles from early in the season, Bastoni said that “It’s definitely a question of attitude.”

“The desire not to concede goals.”

“That’s what allowed us to win the title by a big margin last season. And we have to find that again.”

“The seasons are piling up one after another,” Bastoni said. “And staying 100% switched-on every match isn’t easy.”

“But that’s what we have to try to do starting tonight,” the Inter defender declared.
