Teun Koopmeiners is hoping to return from injury for Juventus against Inter Milan, whilst Weston McKennie should certainly be back.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that in McKennie’s case, the target is to return against Stuttgart.

Next weekend, Inter take on Juventus in Serie A.

The first Derby d’Italia will be at the San Siro.

As always, the clash between the Nerazzurri and the Bianconeri promises to be one of the marquee matches of the season in the Italian top flight.

And as is so often the case, there is a sense that next Sunday’s match could be decisive in the Sere A title race.

Juventus left it late to secure a 1-0 win over Lazio yesterday evening. Meanwhile, Inter face Roman opposition of their own this evening, travelling to the capital to face Roma.

Whatever the result for Inter this evening, little will separate them from Juventus in the table come the Derby d’Italia next Sunday.

Koopmeiners Pushing To Be Fit For Juventus Vs Inter – McKennie Will Be Back

Bianconeri coach Thiago Motta will naturally hope to have his key players available to him for tomorrow’s match.

Against Lazio yesterday, Motta selected a trio of Manuel Locatelli, Douglas Luiz, and Khephren Thuram from the starting eleven.

Meanwhile, Nicolo Fagioli came off the bench.

However, Motta was without Koopmeiners and McKennie. Both have started a number of matches for Juventus this season.

Dutch international Koopmeiners was the Bianconeri’s big money marquee signing from Atalanta this summer.

However, the Dutchman has been recovering from a rib injury that he sustained in a Champions League match against RB Leipzig before the break.

According to the Gazzetta, Koopmeiners will not be back for this week’s Champions League clash with Stuttgart. However, he’s set his sighs on a return against Inter.

Meanwhile, the newspaper reports, McKennie should be back against Stuttgart after sustaining a knock during the international break.

Therefore, there is no doubt that the American will be available against Inter.
