Simone Inzaghi admits one between Nicolo Barella and Piotr Zielinski will team up with Davide Frattesi in tomorrow’s clash against Young Boys.

During his pre-game official press conference, as reported by FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri boss delivered multiple squad updates.

Inter head to Bern in a buoyant mood after a 1-0 win at Roma last weekend extended their winning run to four matches.

However, a hard-earned triumph at the Stadio Olimpico took its toll.

Francesco Acerbi and Hakan Calhanoglu suffered injury setbacks and will not travel to Switzerland with the rest of the team.

Calhanoglu’s injury came only days after Nicolo Barella returned from a month-long spell on the sidelines.

The Italian midfield is a potential candidate to fill the vacancy in a playmaker’s role on Wednesday.

But Inzaghi will re-evaluate his options in the coming hours.

There’s a chance Zielinski will take the Turkish ace’s place in the Inter midfield alongside Frattesi.

Simone Inzaghi Considers Piotr Zielinski or Nicolo Barella to Join Davide Frattesi in Midfield vs Young Boys

Inzaghi doesn’t want his players to think in advance, with the mouth-watering Derby d’Italia waiting in the wings.

“No, we know we have to take it game by game.

“Young Boys had some problems at the start but beat Luzern on Sunday, so we need to be very careful.

Inter will take on Juventus next weekend amid a growing injury crisis.

“We had a problem with Asllani on Friday, then Calhanoglu on Sunday, so the rotations in midfield are limited.

“For Zielinski, the feelings are good, but I need to assess things after today’s training.”

Barella is the only other candidate for the midfield role after impressing on his return from injury.

“I’m happy with what he did in Rome, as well as what he did last year in Lecce or Udine. Tomorrow, clearly one between him and Zielinski will play in the middle.

“I will evaluate for the Pole. Then Frattesi will play, and someone else will come in.”

Asked whether Alessandro Bastoni will start, Inzaghi replied: “I’m evaluating for him and Dimarco.”

As for Yann Sommer, his place between the sticks looks safe.

“He spends more time training with us, which helps.

“I can only speak well of him; he is a great goalkeeper whom I strongly wanted but also a great person who always tries to help his teammates.

“Inter has acquired a great man as well as a goalkeeper.”

Inzaghi Provides Update On Roma Win & Stadion Wankdorf Artificial Pitch

Young Boys’ home stadium has an artificial pitch. That’s something Inter players are not used to.

But Inzaghi will make the necessary changes to help his team adapt to the new surroundings.

“It changes; it’s clear that it’s not the same.

“We decided to change our habits, trying to adapt to the field in an hour while paying attention to Young Boys, who are a team that deserves respect.”

Inter must be feeling comfortable after claiming a precious win in Rome.

“Since I’ve been here, we’ve always won in Rome, even if we suffered more last year. On Sunday we won while playing in difficult conditions; I complimented the guys.

“Winning by 3-4 goals is always tough; we had a quality Roma in front of us.

“I took an important victory that should help us continue our streak of seven matches in 20 days, even though we have issues to resolve as soon as possible.

“Finally, Inzaghi took stock of the up-and-coming Primavera talents.

“The kids need to put in their effort. My brother and I worked our way up in Serie C before playing in Serie A.

“The kids should do the same. At Lazio, I promoted many players; at Inter, fewer.

“But I hope to be able to promote some. Berenbruch and Aidoo have earned their place here.”
