The Italian Referees Association has appointed Marco Guida as the main referee for Sunday’s Derby d’Italia between Inter Milan and Juventus.

According to FCInterNews, Guida will blow the first whistle at Giuseppe Meazza.

In addition, two experienced linesmen, Filippo Meli and Stefano Alassio, will assist the 43-year-old.

Meanwhile, Paolo Silvio Mazzoleni and Michael Fabbri will be in the VAR room.

The highly anticipated showdown between Inter and Juventus kicks off on Sunday, 18:00 CET.

Inter will seek their fourth consecutive triumph in Serie A following a narrow 1-0 win against Roma.

Indeed, Simone Inzaghi’s charges have gone from strength to strength since a 2-1 defeat to AC Milan in September’s Derby della Madonnina.

Inzaghi has since overseen back-to-back 3-2 wins against Udinese and Torino.

However, the icing on the cake was Lautaro Martinez’s match-winning strike at the Stadio Olimpico last Sunday.

Before renewing hostilities with Juventus over the weekend, the Nerazzurri will meet Swiss champions Young Boys.

Widely considered hot favorites in Bern, Inter will look to set themselves up nicely for the upcoming derby clash.

Serie A Appoint Referee Marco Guida for Upcoming Game Between Inter Milan & Juventus

Guida only made three Serie A appearances this season.

He was the match official in Juventus’ scoreless draw against Roma at the beginning of September.

Interestingly, two of the three games the experienced referee has officiated ended all square.

Seen as one of the best Italian referees, Guida carries a reputation for authority and fairness on the field.

He showed two red cards in a dramatic 2-2 draw between Lecce and Parma in mid-September.

But that was an anomaly.

Guida only handed six yellow cards in the other two matches this term, including three in Juve’s abovementioned game against Roma.

His household status in Italian football earned him the honor of officiating one of the most exciting games in the Serie A calendar.
