Free-Scoring Inter Milan Midfielder Offers His Verdict On Match-Winning Performance Vs Empoli: “Had Good Moments There”

Davide Frattesi guided Inter Milan to a convincing 3-0 midweek Serie A win against perennial strugglers Empoli.

Speaking to DAZN after the game, as reported by FCInterNews, the 25-year-old reflected on his match-winning performance in Tuscany.

Following a 4-4 draw against Juventus on Sunday, Simone Inzaghi and his men grasped the importance of taking three points tonight.

With Napoli beating AC Milan 2-0 last night to go seven points clear at the Serie A summit, Inter had to triumph.

And they did, largely thanks to Davide Frattesi.

Saba Goglichidze’s red card for a cynical tackle on Marcus Thuram just after the hour mark offered Inter a huge boost.

However, the Nerazzurri couldn’t break the deadlock in the first half.

Instead, they had to wait until the 50th minute to find the opening goal.

Frattesi turned home Matteo Darmian’s assist to put his team in front before killing the game off in the 67th minute.

Lautaro Martinez put his stamp on the win late to seal the deal.

Frattesi soaked up the limelight as Inter’s hero this evening.

He spent the 2019/20 season on loan at Empoli. Therefore, he refused to celebrate.

After the game, he addressed the media, sharing his view of his phenomenal display at the Castellani.

“Scoring my first brace in Serie A was wonderful, though I’m sorry it happened against a team where I had a great time, where we enjoyed ourselves,” he confessed.

“It felt right not to celebrate.

“My performance? It feels like every game is a test to prove whether I’m good or not.

“We play so much, and we’re all a bit tired; today, I felt it a bit too.

“We’re constantly on the move, and I went through a foggy period.

“But a player’s talent should be assessed over the long term,” Frattesi was adamant.
