Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi outshines even Bayer Leverkusen superstar Florian Wirtz in one key statistic.

Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, highlights the superior goals-per-minute ratio for the 25-year-old.

So far, this season has been one of growth and opportunity for Frattesi.

Last time out, the Italian international had to settle for a role as more of a super sub at Inter. That was despite the Nerazzurri having signed him for a big fee during the summer.

The fact that Frattesi has been regularly starting for Italy without breaking into the Inter lineup has raised eyebrows.

But this campaign, Frattesi has started to regularly start for Inter.

Injuries have played a role in this. The 25-year-old has taken advantage of chances afforded by both Nicolo Barella and Hakan Calhanoglu being out for a few weeks.

But when he has gotten these opportunities, Frattesi has grabbed them with both hands.

The Italian has put in a string of good performances. He has been decisive in wins over Udinese and Empoli.

Inter Midfielder Frattesi Outshines Even Leverkusen Superstar Wirtz For Goals Per Game

Against both Udinese and Empoli, Frattesi got on the scoresheet to unlock the game for Inter.

That has become the former Sassuolo midfielder’s stock in trade.

Frattesi is prolific for both Inter and Italy. In fact, he is the top scorer for the Azzurri since Luciano Spalletti took over as coach.

As the Gazzetta note, Frattesi has scored at a rate of once every 165 minutes in an Inter shirt.

That is a remarkable rate for a midfielder. And it puts him even above Leverkusen midfielder Florian Wirtz, who nominally plays in a more attacking position.

Now, Frattesi will look to build on that.

There are still aspects of the 25-year-old’s game that need a lot of work. He lacks the ability to control the tempo of matches like some of his teammates.

But Frattesi and Inter hope that will come with time and experience.

With matches against Arsenal and Napoli on the way, Frattesi will be targeting a start in a high profile match to continue to shine and exhibit his growth.
